Name: Palacio de Bornos Verdejo 2013
Variety:Verdejo
Year: 2013
Country: Spain
Region: Rueda
Price: $12
Wine Critic Review: "Zesty and clean, with pure grapefruit and passion
fruit aromas. It’s charged up but perfectly balanced, with bright, focused
citrus and pineapple flavors. Lemony acidity keeps the finish rolling, then
throw in some chive and fresh greens and you have a spot-on Verdejo." -Wine Enthusiast (89 points)
My review: This wine had a citrus scent mixed with lots of other colorful fruits. The taste was a bit harsh and there was a fairly strong bite to the finish. I did not like this wine.

Indwe Pinotage 2013
Name: Indwe Pinotage 2013
Variety: Pinotage
Year: 2013
Country: South Africa
Price: $12
Wine Critic Review: “A disclaimer: I have never cared much for Pinotage, the indigenous South African grape variety, but this 2013 Pinotage from Indwe, named after the country's national bird, the blue crane, comes across like a light Pinot Noir. Subtle notes of cherries, spice and forest floor are followed by a round, light to medium-bodied, pure, seductive, well-crafted wine. Drink now-2016." -Robert Parker
My review: I had never had this grade variety and was interested in tasting this wine. The wine smelled very dry to the nose. It also smelled a bit earthy. I can understand the similarities to a Pinot Noir mentioned by Robert Parker. I could detect a slight cherry taste.

Wine Critic Review: "Ruby red color with purple reflections. Intense vinous bouquet with hints of violets and dark cherry fruit. The flavor is full of ripe fruit and a hint of spice. It is well balanced and dry. The finish is persistent and satisfying." - The Vintage Cellar
My review: I also noticed the specks of purple in this dry, red wine. This wine had a strong peppery smell and a taste of spiciness. Dark fruits and cherry were also flavors that I noticed in this wine.

Crane Lake Gewürtztraminer 2013
Name: Crane Lake Gewürtztraminer 2013
Variety: Gewürtztraminer
Year: 2013
Country: California
Price: $5.95
Wine Critic Review: "Slightly high-toned notions of rose petal mingle with lemon on nose and palate of this lightly sweet, richly textured yet balanced Gewürztraminer. This is not as heady as you may expect and will be a treat with spicy Asian dishes. Lychee and rose petal make another very fetching appearance on the finish." -The Vintage Cellar
My review: This wine smelled extremely sweet on the nose. Strong grape, and floral notes. I could also smell a lemon zest. The taste was satisfying and smooth. It actually did not taste as sweet as it smelled and I liked this wine.
